Student Leaders
Heart of England School has an enviable reputation in the local and wider community for high academic and behavioural standards. The school values and encourages students to contribute to the social life of the school. The role of the Student Leader would be a prestigious responsibility within the school.
We set high expectations and standards of behaviour and appearance for all our students. We expect that each Student Leader would play a major part in shaping the positive public image of the Heart of England School within the local community. In addition, each Student Leader should be a role model for the younger students, both on and off duty. It promises to be a very demanding, but extremely rewarding position within the whole school, through the students, staff, governors and parents, clearly recognising and strongly supporting the important work completed by our Student Leader Team.
Roles and Responsibilities
A Student Leader provides additional supervision at break time and lunchtime to maintain the smooth organisation of students and staff. They attend school functions throughout the academic year and guide visitors around the school at Parents’ Evenings, School Performances and Conferences. The Student Leader team will be utilised by the staff and in time, be recognised as a useful tool in the running of Heart of England. Further guidance on roles and deployment of Student Leaders follows.
Senior Leaders
When an applicant submits a letter of application they have two options to choose: whether to be a Senior Leader or a Student Leader. The Student Leader Team is led by the Senior Leaders who regularly attend meetings, along with the Headteacher to discuss matters that concern the team and communicate any problems or concerns they might have about particular students or issues. Each meeting is recorded and minutes are taken so that everyone involved in the team can find out what issues were discussed and how they are being resolved. Only the most outstanding students will be considered for Senior Student Leader posts.
It is anticipated that there will be ten Senior Student Leaders who lead a team of thirty Student Leaders.
